SPINAL SURGERY INSTRUMENT SET
Message from the Chairman
For
several years doctors coming for training with me in spinal surgery
have been experiencing difficulty in obtaining correct instruments to
do spinal surgery. Over the years the thought has been lingering in my
mind and I was feeling uncomfortable.
In pursuit of propagation of knowledge of spinal
surgery to doctors and lay people I have been taking lectures, holding
exhibitions, seminars and workshops and international conferences. I
have also been writing pamphlets and books separately targeted for
doctors and non medical people. As many as 16 video cassettes and CDs
have been published on techniques in spinal surgery. But the
instrumentation section remained unattended for a long time. I was
looking for a right surgical instruments manufacturer who would design
the correct instruments for me until I met Mr. D.G. Oliver, Director of
GESCO instrument company in Chennai-India. He has been very encouraging
and co-operative and agreed to work with me in this project.
Many spinal surgeons do surgery in difficult
conditions with lack of proper instruments. The set of instruments
selected very carefully can be used to do most spinal surgery
procedures.
Buying an instrument set such as this one, may still
pose a problem for many. It is hoped that in each area sponsors will
identify surgeons who are dedicated and actively involved in the
development of spinal surgery and donate to them this set of spinal
surgery instruments.
It is hoped that this gesture of goodwill of the
sponsors will be utilized rightly by the surgeons to provide better
care for the ailing patients in their area.
