Carlos Haya University Hospital Training Center (Malaga, Spain)

International Fellowship Program

Miguel A. Arraez, MD, PhD, Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Carlos Haya University Hospital (Malaga, Spain) offers yearly a 3-4 months fellowship period to neurosurgical residents/postgtraduates (preferentially from Latin-american countries). Carlos Haya University Hospital belongs to the Spanish National Health System network, with a referral population area in the south of Spain (Costa del Sol) outnumbering 2,5 millions inhabitants. Our 13 staff members (plus residents) cover almost all neurosurgical fields (see below), including also a trauma center with a large number of casualty emergency procedures. Costa del Sol area is also very much appreciated because of nice climate and touristic environment.

A 6000 U$A grant will be provided for the stay, as donation from the Spanish Board of Surgeons (SBS; Jonhson & Jonhson). During the above mentioned period, the fellows can be involved as observers in the clinical and surgical activities of the department, and also in the academic, teaching and research projects. After completion of the period, a local certificate and also a WFNS certificate will be given. The process of selection is carried out by the Foundation of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (Prof. Armando Basso)
