During the Presidency of Professor Madjid Samii, the Administrative Council of WFNS created a Foundation for the purpose of supporting neurosurgeons worldwide who have difficulties in treating their patients and carrying out certain neurosurgical procedures, due to lack of funds for purchasing the necessary equipment.

One of the initiatives to raise funds for the Foundation was the creation of a special Certificate available to all neurosurgeons who are members of a WFNS member society having full membership status and which is in good standing with WFNS.
