The WFNS Foundation Hanoi Live Surgery Seminar was held from 15th to 17th December 2017, in Hanoi, Vietnam. This seminar was supported by the WFNS Foundation, the Neurosurgical Center of Viet Duc University Hospital, and the Neurosurgical Society of Vietnam. This scientific program included one day of Live Surgery and a two-day live surgery seminar.
On the first day, there were 8 cases of live surgery about AVM, clipping of aneurysm, CPA tumor, petroclival meningioma, stenting of carotid stenosis, endoscopic pituitary tumor, bypass, skull base tumor, trigeminal neuralgia, and spine surgery. There were video clips on spinal tumor surgery. The live surgery was a practical hands-on session to supply not only good experience and but also future improvements in neurosurgery management. Many surgeons from 15 provinces participated in live surgery by telemedicine. This attracted 120 participants from all regions of Vietnam and 5 young Cambodian neurosurgeons. Twenty-six national and international and speakers gave 56 lectures on the last two days at the International Convention Center, including the following topics: trauma workshop, cerebrovascular session, pediatrics, endovascular session, brain tumor session, and spine. All meetings had simultaneous interpreters. Participants considered it was a golden opportunity to learn from various experts in neurosurgery. The seminar was well organized with all participants wishing to have more such training programs in the future.
