Under of the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco; The Moroccan Society of Neurosurgery organized - in collaboration with the World Federation of the Neurosurgical Societies, the Panarab Neurosurgical Society, and the Moroccan Society of Spine and Spine Cord Surgery - the 12th Panarab Neurosurgery Meeting in Marrakech.
The conference was preceded by the 9th WFNS Rabat Reference Centre Course for African Neurosurgeons organized in conjunction with the WFNS Education and Training Committee Course on 17 October 17th at the Atlas Asni Hotel, Marrakech. The topic was “Updates in Neurosurgery”. During the morning, plenary talks by 9 experts were followed by discussion with attendees. During the afternoon, young neurosurgeons presented and discussed cases in different fields of neurosurgery. Commentaries were made by 2 experts in each of the 9 topics.
The conference consisted of more than 320 neurosurgeons and 34 nationalities. 30 plenary talks, 75 panel talks and 120 oral presentations, and 160 E-posters. All fields of neurosurgery were covered with neurosurgeons in Arab and African countries presenting their experience. The attendees had the opportunity to share experience with the 60 eminent experts in neurosurgery invited by the organizers. Special sessions were organizing by the WFNS Women in Neurosurgery Committee and the WFNS Young Neurosurgeons Forum with panel talks and debates.
The Moroccan Society of Neurosurgery provided 20000 € for scholarships to support 45 young neurosurgeons from Africa, Asia and East Europe. Many opportunities for networking were offered to young neurosurgeons to meet their colleagues and experts worldwide during the opening ceremony and hospitality and networking dinner in the “Chez Ali Palace”.
